
Delta Airlines: Safety is not a Destination

I recently took a short flight to Boston on Delta Airlines -- my preferred airline for travel in the US. It was a typical airline on-boarding experience. Awkwardly navigating fellow passengers and their carry-ons while trying to match my seat with ticket number. Then bust out the travel accoutrements (iPad, charger, book, snack whatever) without blocking the aisles to finally throw luggage in the overhead (or under seat) and sit down facing the in-flight movie screen in front of me.

Brilliant design can be found anywhere. It’s not always about ushering in the new. Often it can involve solving an old issue. Times of chaos in the world are always both a bugbear and an opportunity to drive change into the world. The old guard is aging and leaving, having a bit of a terrifying last hurrah and new, fresh ideas will come in their place.

To be endlessly creative means having a sense of detachment to the old and continuously experimenting and reinventing ways of doing things.
